Physics Department

The Department of Physics came into existence in July 1957 when the B.Sc. program started at VSSD College Kanpur. Professor B. S. Bhargava was the founder head of the department. The master’s program (M.Sc.) in physics started in 1965. Within a few years of its establishment, excellent laboratory facilities were developed, and the department became famous for its quality teaching in the Kanpur region. The dedication of every faculty member and the collective efforts always resulted in university positions for M.Sc. students. There was an occasion when all 25 students in M.Sc. secured first division as well as university positions.

VSSD College offers a highly regarded B.Sc. program with core subjects in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The program builds a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and analytical skills, preparing students for careers in research, education, technical fields, and higher studies like M.Sc., M.C.A, or competitive exams.
